Named for George Clinton, New York's first governor, the Clinton House was declared a state historical site on April 23, 1900, when Gov. Theodore Roosevelt signed an appropriations bill that included funds for the house's purchase. Within the site there is a research center museum that preserves many historical artifacts and documents from when Roosevelt was New York's governor.

The Clinton House is open year round, Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., by appointment.
